The Region loves their breakfast. Here are the places that we recommend trying the next time you venture out for the most important meal of the day.

Saint John, IN

From the Owner: “Our curiously straightforward menu pushes the boundaries on all big breakfast and lunch plates you’re familiar with, while featuring a full-service coffee and cocktail bar with hand-crafted drinks sure to turn your meal into an unforgettable experience.”

What our viewers say: @nikkipoll27 (IG) – “Avgo. Classy Brunch drinking and large portions of delicious breakfast favorites.”

Here’s a Google review: Jim Turner – “A member of the Theo’s restaurant group. It has a great feel and the restaurant was clean and very cool. The food was great and really big portions. I got a skillet and my wife got crepes. Both were excellent. We’ll be back!”

Harvest Room

Munster, IN

From the Owner: “We are a from-scratch restaurant serving breakfast and lunch with natural options such as free range eggs, grass fed beef, antibiotic free chicken, gluten free and vegan options–as well as–a Wild Child menu. Our organic tea program is also infused into our craft cocktails at the bar. Come dine with us for our Boozy Brunch or host your party for an unforgettable event.”

What our viewers say: @toofatfox (IG) -“Harvest Room. Quality products, good amount of food for price and very creative menu items.”

Here’s a Google review: Megan Limon – “We went here for Mother’s day, wonderful service & food. Reservations are definitely needed for a holiday but if you have those you should be good. Our waitress was wonderful and we didn’t feel rushed as there is an hour and a half table time maximum. The drinks were amazing. I would definitely come back for lunch or drinks anytime. This was my first time being here and I am definitely going to be back!”

Suzie’s Café & Catering

Valparaiso, IN

From Us: The winner of our “Region’s Best Breakfast” contest in 2019, we had the pleasure of heading to Suzie’s Café to film their congratulatory video for being our viewers’ #1 breakfast place. The ownership and staff couldn’t have been nicer, and they sent us home with an incredible array of dishes including their head-sized cinnamon roll.

What our viewers say: @kishdvm08 (IG) – “Suzie’s. The cinnamon rolls!”

Here’s a Google review: Ethan Hunt – “Lovely atmosphere and amazing food. The cinnamon roll is large enough for 4 people to snack on while waiting for their food. The staff are always wonderful and friendly. Definitely worth the wait for a table if you go when they are super busy. They have crayons for the little ones too so it’s definitely a family environment.”

Le Peep

Valparaiso, IN

What our viewers say: @rachelwickedzlamal – “Le Peep. I haven’t had anything there that wasn’t excellent. The food is always on point!”

Here’s a Google review: Aaron Webster – “I love this restaurant! I honestly have only tried the breakfast items but they are unique and amazing! My favorite is the Southwestern Biscuits and Gravy which they use a chorizo gravy! It’s so good! I have had some of the smoothies as well as some of the veggie options that my wife loves! Really great place to go! Little more pricey than some other locations but very much worth the quality of food you get.”

Pappas Restaurant

Crown Point, IN

From the Owner: “For over 50 years, Pappas Restaurant and Bar has provided service, value, and food for families the very best way we know how. We serve high quality meals at a great value: from our incredible breakfast options–as well as–lunch, dinner, and a well-stocked bar. Pappas is a Crown Point staple, and that wouldn’t be true without our loyal patrons who have made it so. It has truly been an honor to serve the many generations that have enjoyed us, and we look forward to serving the future generations to come.”

Here’s a Google review: Kurt Valentine – “The biscuits and gravy were the best I ever had in a restaurant. My wife is the only person who makes them better. Staff was very nice. I recommend this place for breakfast. I will go back to try lunch or dinner.”

The Scrambled Diner

Dyer, IN

From us: One of the most desirable places for breakfast to our viewers, The Scrambled Diner has unique, home-made dishes that are sure to scratch your breakfast itch. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time due to the limited seating on its most packed times during more traditional breakfast hours.

What our viewers say: @djeenigenburg – “Scrambled Diner. Best scratch menu in a 2 hour radius.”

Here’s a Google review: Derek Hinks – “We have only lived in the area for a short period, but we heard that this place was very good and it did not disappoint! My wife and I shared the Aloha Skillet and the ribeye sandwich, and they are both very good! Very nice and refreshing to have a unique but delicious meal. Definitely going back soon.”

Toast & Jam

Schererville, IN

From the Owner: “Lift is too short for boring food. Check out NWI’s best brunch with endless options, friendly faces and fresh ingredients. You can feel the good vibes from the time you walk in the door to the time you leave with a more than full belly. We’ve got everything you’re craving: sweet decadent Banana Crumble French Toast, savory homemade Cowboy Biscuits and Gravy, and flavorful southwestern items like the Poblano Breakfast Casserole. Grab your friends and come in for great mimosas and an even better atmosphere.”

What our viewers say: @syd_johnson9 (IG) – “Toast and jam! Their homemade jam!”

Here’s a Google review: Greg P – “Definitely one of my top 3 go-to breakfast spots. Their lunch and dinner options are also amazing. I’ve had parties hosted here in their back room for a baby shower, and other events and they do not disappoint. Do yourself a favor and visit this place if you enjoy a great dining experience!”

Cedar Lake Kitchen

Cedar Lake, IN

From the Owner: “We’ve been in business since 1998 offering quality meals at reasonable prices in a friendly atmosphere. We would like to thank all of our customers for their continued support, especially through the pandemic.”

What our viewers say: @dshipman20 – “CL Kitchen was a staple through high school. Now that I live in Indy, I make sure to stop there every time I come home to visit family.”

Main St. Café

Crown Point, IN

From the Owner: “We’ve been the best breakfast place in Crown Point since 1971! Our customers can expect everything from traditional omelettes to more modern dishes like chilaquiles, chicken and waffles and so much more. We take great pride in our quality, portions, service and would like to thank all of our customers over the last 50 years! Here’s to another 50!”

What our viewers say: @lzurbriggen15 (IG) – “I have always been partial to Main Street Café around 2-3am.”

Here’s a Google review: Lynn Brown – “This was my first time eating at Main Street Café. I should’ve taken a picture because my berry pancakes were beautiful and delicious. I usually don’t order pancakes at most restaurants because they’re usually too thick and filling. These were perfect! They had just the right amount of fluff and flavor. The service was good. I will definitely be back and recommend this place to everyone.”

Omelette House

Schererville, IN

From the Owner: “We’re a small place on the boulevard that packs a big punch. We always want people to feel like they are eating at home. And just like we have on a sign inside our restaurant, we like to say ‘enter as strangers, leave as family.'”

What our viewers say: @misss_bianca (IG) – “Why Omelette House isn’t already on here is beyond me.”

Here’s a Google review: Greg Koszut – “The great service with really lightening fast food makes this place a breakfast must do.  The menu has something for everyone and the do serve quickly.  It should be noted that they do not rush you out the door.  I felt we had very ample time and received great service.  Thank you Omelette House!”

Café 339

Hobart, IN

From us: This was a place that was initially off of our list because we’ve never been there before. But when we posted an IG story asking our viewers for the best breakfast places, the fans of Café 339 came on strong by getting almost as many votes as any other breakfast place on our list.

What our viewers say: @sandyleeakerss – “Café 339 in Hobart because yes.”

Here’s a Google review: Dan Kimmet – “Best breakfast around. Staff is very friendly and makes you feel like a regular. Breakfast sandwiches are large and very good. Don’t forget to get a mimosa, they are the best. Highly recommend you try this hidden breakfast gem.”
