I’m not going to lie to you: appetizers are my jam. Actually, I could probably never eat a meal again and only eat dips if I wouldn’t gain 1000 lbs.

Here is my essential list of different appetizers that would be my dream situation at any family, friend or holiday party.  *Hopefully my wife sees this.


This dip is like that friend you didn’t want to invite, but decided to invite anyway. It’s doing an “Irish Goodbye” and not staying very long.

It’s going to pack a few calories, but isn’t that the fun?

This recipe serves 6 people:

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 8 oz. of cream cheese
  • ½ cup of sour cream
  • 1 cup of finely diced dill pickles (or any pickle of choice)
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon of dill weed chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of dill pickle juice


  • Use jalapenos to add heat
  • Use onions or onion powder to make it more savory

Now this is a dip that would force me to practice as much self control as humanly possible. If allowed, I could probably eat this dip with a spoon. Forget the chips.

  • 1 lb hot sausage, browned ( I added this instead of ground beef)
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp chili seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup pepper jack cheeseshredded
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheeseshredded
  • 1 cup Pace Salsa Medium (or salsa of choice)

Oldie but a goodie. You can never go wrong with this recipe.

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 cups cooked chickenshredded
  • 1/2 cup Frank’s Original Red Hot Sauce
  • 8 oz (250g) g block cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup white Cheddar cheese freshly shredded
  • 1/4 cup American cheddarfreshly shredded
  • 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese (optional to serve)
  • 2 teaspoons green onions, sliced ( or chives)
  • Celery sticks carrot sticks, tortilla chips, crusty bread pieces, potato chips, for serving
